In L.A. the students have begun their Charlie assignments
and as I had suspected, they are enjoying the challenge and fun of creating
their own story. They should be working on this project at least 4 nights a
week at home to make sure it is finished in the next 4 weeks.

We have started our Health unit on Nutrition. The
students have a project due on May 11 where they will need your help. They were
given the project last week on Friday. I have also posted it on our Edline
page.

In math we are completing unit 10 and will be doing the
test on Wednesday April 25th. We will start unit 11 focusing on Volume later
this week. The skills tested for unit 10 are to:

• Solve two–step pan balance problems
• Write algebraic
  expressions to describe situations
• Represent
  rate problems as formulas, graphs and tables
• Use
  formulas to find circumference and area of a circle
• Distinguish
  between circumference and area of a circle problems
• Solve one-step pan balance problems
• Interpret
  mystery line plots and graphs

 
T.V Turn off week

This week is
T.V turn off week. All students have been encouraged by teachers and
counsellors to turn the T.V. or Screens (including DVD’s, computer games, video
games, cell phone games, movies at the theatre, or chatting on the computer)
off this week. Support your child to ensure they have a successful and
beneficial experience.

May Day Holiday

Health Video Screening

If you are
planning to view the video that we will be showing students during our Health
unit please be at school between 1:30 – 3:00pm in the Elementary Conference
Room. Our elementary nurse,Mrs Sharon Pantoja, will be there to answer any
questions. 

 
Elementary Assembly

The Elementary
Assembly is being hosted by 5CH this week. It is starting at 10am on Thursday
morning. Come out and support our fellow fifth grade students if you have the
