What a great class I have? Yesterday I mistakenly cut short the lunch hour for the kids and walked them over to the middle school to hear a presentation from an 8th grade social studies class about poverty. Sounds great doesn’t it? Except that I was a week too late! So after a few minutes on the playground we came back upstairs and I gave in to the kids requests of “please, please, please can we decorate the classroom for Christmas Mrs Power?” Decorate we did, and it looks great with more still to come. Thanks to the parents who responded quickly to my e mail and to Whitney and Kevin’s moms who donated lights and more, we really appreciate it and I think further decoration and card making might be a nice way to end the week tomorrow afternoon.

It is not all fun and games in 5KP however, we are more than half-way through our interactive read-a-loud of I am David and the class are loving the journey. We did some investigating yesterday on the time period the book was set in and looked at the power Soviet Russia had during the 1950’s; the class are very intelligent and keen to learn and I enjoy these times with them immensely.

In math we are half way through our unit and should do the test for that on either Friday December 11th or Monday December 14th depending on the interruptions next week with the Band and Strings concert and the rehearsals for it. Don’t forget to come along and support your child at 1.30 pm in the auditorium next Tuesday December 8th.
Speaking of Math, here is a great site I found for ways to help your child in Math, especially for younger children or ones having a little bit of trouble.

Santa’s Workshop is on for the kids again this year between Tuesday and Friday and the class are welcome to do any shopping there that they would like to do. 5KP will be having shopping time on Wednesday at 11.00 am so place your orders early if you would like them to buy anything for you, family, friends, ayis, drivers etc.

I will be sending home a new scholastic news with your child tomorrow that is due back on December 8th. The turnaround is so fast because we would like the orders to be back here before the Chinese New Year break.
