Hello 5KP.
So that you can start thinking about all the different ways to use a blog, I am going to ask you a few questions to see how well you can find your way around my blog. It will involve you doing some reading and even more importantly some scanning through text to find specific information. There are 5 questions I want you to answer in the form of a comment you will write on my blog. Make sure you number each of your answers, you do not have to re-write the question.
So, here goes….
1. What date did I post my first entry on my blog?
2. Name the 5 girls that performed in the Minority Hat Dance.
3. Were you able to view the youtube ‘Quick Change’ video? If so, give me some ideas about how do you think they did it.
4. How old was Olive when she died?
5. Who were the best student bloggers in 5KP during October 2007?
There you go, take your time reading through the blog and checking out different links. The idea is for you to be able to find the answers to those questions and also to become familiar with my blog and some of the things you will be doing as a class this year.

1.I think it’s January 23rd, 2007.
2.They are Kate, Letitia, Elley, Paige, and Christina.
3. The video doesn’t work on your blog, but Remy (from your class last year) showed it to me on YouTube and I thought it was awesome! I have no idea how they did it but I sure wish I could!
4. Olive was 108 when she died, which I find is unbelivable! If I had one wish it might be that I would live to be 108.

Excellent Job James, 5 out of 5 and the first one to post, a reward of a sticker is coming your way on Monday. Yes, Olive was pretty amazing, not only to live that long but to start blogging when she was OVER 100 years old is good encouragement to all of us. Sorry you couldn’t see the video, was anyone else in 5KP able to open it I wonder? If not I will work on posting it again.

Hi again James and students, try the youtube video again today, I was just able to view it easily by clicking on the arrow, if not copy and paste the link. Sometimes youtube can be temperamental in China and not work some days so don’t give up!

Here are my answers:
1:Your first blog entry was January 23 2007, was telling your class about links to sites to help them with there school work,and on their blog you were giving them task to complete.
2: The entry was posted March 6th 2007, the girls were Kate,Christina,Letitia and Elley.
3: The entry was posted April 16th 2007, it showed up fine for me,I have no idea how they do it, mabey trapdoors? I don’t know but it sure was cool, I also noticed that the girl was a different girl each time.
4: She died when she was 108,I watched the youtube video with her in it and she didn’t seem so unhealthy,it’s totally cool that she lived that long. My mom knew a lady that died 113,I hope I die that old!
5: the entry was 1st of October 2007 The winners were Min Ji Lee and Isabella Wang, I really liked the fish on Min Ji’s blog and I loved the information about the Sichuan earthquake on Isabella’s blog.

3. It was loading too slow but James showed me on U-tube. I thought that was incridible how they changed so fast and the person switchedhalfway of the preformance. I dont know how they do it. It was cool.
4. olive died when she was 108 WOW! that is a long life.
5. Min Ji Lee and Isabella Wang. The date you set this blog was nov 1st so I had trouble finding it.

Izzy I love that you added more detail to your answers showing me that you really had a bit of a look around the blog, well done, that shows extra effort.
I don’t know if I would like to live as long as Olive but if I was as healthy as she was then that would be fine.
Cody, it was a bit hard I know but the idea was two-fold…
one, you learn about my blog and
two, you practice your scanning skills.
All of the things I asked questions on were either headings,photos or videos so you should not have had to read all the other stuff if you didn’t want to or didn’t have time to.

3. I think the first and second time she was wearing the other dresses under the first dress. The third time, I think it was a different person. They both were probably wearing the clothes under their first piece of clothing.
4. Wow, I don’t believe that she’s 108 years old! My friend’s grandpa lived up to 104 years old. She said it was in the paper.

Boys and Girls, remember to write in complete sentences OR set it up like Michael did. I think the complete sentences are a good idea as they make quick sense and are easy for readers to understand straight away.

3. I was able to watch the Quick change artists video. I think the way the quick change artists did it was by wearing the next outfit under the one on top and tearing it off when they were changing.
4. When Olive died she was 108 years old! I couldn’t imagine being that old!!!!
