Global Reflection

Well, it is Christmas Eve, oh, actually it isn’t is it? So why all the excitement in 5KP today???

Ah, that is right, it is Global Native Eve, well almost. Today was the final day the students had to work on their project to complete finishing touches before they set up tomorrow. We performed our speeches in class so that Willow and Kyle could be assessed with their groups as they are both leaving before the Open House on Thursday. So we hope to see you there, between 8.00 and 10.00 in the Orange Grove Room in between the Middle School Library and the Cafeteria.

In the meantime 5KP you have some reflecting to do, please take the time to answer these questions Mr Hossack has made up for you.I would like your answers posted on your blog before the end of the week under the heading: Global Natives Reflection

  1. ANSWERS:

1.The most fun part of the project was working together with other kids instead of doing this project by myself. It seems a lot more fun with other people and it is hard to do a big project like this by yourself.

2.The most difficult part of the project was having other projects to do at the same time. I wanted to do a good job on all of them, but I was running out of time!

    3. The one thing I would have wanted to change was the poster board, because it needed a lot more pictures than it has now.

    4. The new knowledge I learned about the Apache was- everything! I have not learned about Native Americans before. The main thing is I learned about the Indian Wars in the U.S. that had the US Army fighting against the Apache.

5.The skills I learned from working with the group were leading and organizing and helping other kids. I learned that when you are in a group, others might not want to do what you want to do!

6.I was positive for my group because I gave my group tons of ideas and showed them what they needed to do. I really pressured them to hurry up and to decide how we were going to get everything done. It worked on some people, but not on all of them.

7.Our main problem as a group was that our group members kept falling behind so we had to help them a lot. This is the one thing that makes me crazy in a group!

  2. Explain what you liked most about the project and why?

What I liked most about the project was working with the other kids that I don’t commonly talk to and getting to know them better.

Summarize what you found most difficult or challenging about this project and why?

What I found most challenging in this project was how working in a group because sometimes we all don’t agree what we were going to do.

Analyze one aspect of the project that you would change and give details as to why?

If I could do this project again I would put more facts and general knowledge on my poster board.

Assess what new knowledge you gained from this project?

In this project the new things I learned was-well everything! Since I never studied a about native Americans before like Kyle this is the first time I did it.

Define what skills you have gained from working with your group during this project.

What I learned in working in a group is that leadership is everything if you dont have a leader you can’t control what goes on!

Justify how you were a positive influence on your group.

I was a positive because when my friend Cody who is in my group needed help on his speech I helped him. Also to keep them going I made sure they concentrated.

  4. Dear Mrs.Power,

I read that my reading buddy didn’t get anyone to look at his Global native project because whenever he talked people walked away. I liked how Vico made the little figures. Great job!
