A huge thank you to the 45 participants in Books to Eat Round One. Many 4th and 5th graders collaborated with friends and family to create such a variety of entries. Congratulations to all the participants for taking the time and making the effort to do something new.
Ok, you know I love this! Here is my big question: do you eat them afterwards as a group, or do people take them home? This is the first thing I want to do when I am back in the library next year as I think it’s so fun!

Hey Tara…I’m such a quick responder!
We have all the kids come through and see them in all their glory before 1.30/2.00 depending
on how many there are.
Then we start cutting up!
As students walk through the library, we have all the pieces cut up on paper towel etc, and every
student gets to take one.
If we have heaps of cake that day, we make sure to give the biggest and best ones to people like
chifu, ayis, workers in green clothes (remember them) bus office etc…It used to be that when
it was all over, they took the left overs…wow, way to be respectful giving the local staff what the
expat kids had already picked over….ouch! So this is a better system.
Word gets out too, and we often have MS and even HS kids come through.
It’s chaos, but fun sweet chaos! Although by the end of week 3, and last year, crazily, week 4, we
are DONE with the smell of sugar by the end of it all!
xx
