Hi, I’m Kimbra and I’ve been teaching since 1993, mainly in Australia, and for the last 8 years at the amazing Shanghai American School in Shanghai China. This is my second year in the Elementary Library, as until then I was a 5th grade teacher, surrounded by a great team, and loving life in the classroom. Now it’s time for something new and I’m delighted I made the change to the library. Every day I am overjoyed at how lucky our staff and students are to have such an amazing collection of books on our doorstep.

My husband Simon, daughters; Hannah in 7th grade and Mimi in 1st grade, and I love to travel, to eat, to sing and to read.

  1. Dear Mrs. Power,

I don’t know if you still remember me–I’m Lydia from your 5th grade class 7 years ago. I’m the girl who had blue highlights that matched your shirt! I hope you and your family are doing well. Mimi and Hannah have grown so much! I remember when Mimi was just in a stroller! Please tell them I said hi! I wanted to write to you to catch up. You wrote to me two years ago about how you were still using my nutrition project. It is awesome that you’re a librarian now! I realized the importance of books when I got into high school. They can change your life, alter your ways of thinking, and motivate you in so many ways. I’m in 11th grade now, taking all AP courses. I’m in the top 2% of my class with 600 people. Again, I hope you all are doing well. Thank you so much for being a cool teacher!

    Best Wishes,
    Lydia Tsao
